«Art is eternal…»
22 October 2016 – 22 January 2017
The exhibition «Art is eternal…» timed to the annual city event «the night of the arts» and is conventionally divided into six thematic blocks: art, science, music, literature, theatre and cinema.
Each block introduces the visitor to different types and genres of art and prominent figures of the XIX–XX centuries: poets, translators, literary critics, composers and artists.
The exhibition presents portraits of the poet and the translator of the era of Catherine the great Vasily Petrov, operas-vaudevilles author Alexei Verstovsky, who wrote many of his musical works in collaboration with Alexander Alyabiev, whose portrait by Vasily Andreevich Tropinin presented in the main exhibition of our Museum.
A. Verstovsky is an author of music to the verses by A. S. Pushkin for the song «Old husband, menacing husband,» known as «Gypsy romance» and repeatedly performed by well-known singer Polina Viardot-Garcia, whose portrait by E. Pluchart is also presented in our Museum’s collection.
Central unit dedicated to visual art, it is the line of the self-portrait, this portraits presented by the Italian painter and graphic artists Alexander Molinari and Konstantin Makovsky.
In the theatre block presented sketches by Vadim G. Meller, the brightest representative of Russian Art Deco theatre, and sketches for the ballet «Espana» by famous avangard painter Natalia Goncharova.
Culture is impossible without continuity, the art is based not only on a great past, but it also tends into the future.
In the year of Russian Movie 2016 the Museum of V. A. Tropinin appealed to young artists to create for this exhibition a series of paintings dedicated to the well known movies and prominent figures of Russian cinema. We ask Stella Labuzhsky and Nicholas Ryndin, great-grandson of the theatre artist Vadim F. Ryndin, who for many years has designed productions for the Bolshoi theatre.
By interweaving the past and present, by works of XIX, XX and XXI centuries at the exhibition, you can trace the creative connections and weave in the sphere of culture, as well as the continuity of generations in art.
The exhibition is scheduled to lecture about art and the artistic culture of the XIX, XX centuries and themed events.
